Cancer patient Jackie Evans is the wife of Rankin County Sheriff’s Deputy Cpl. Justin Evans and the mom of Brandon Police Officer Jordan Evans. Jackie and her husband, Justin, graduated from Northwest Rankin High School where they were high-school sweethearts. They made their home in the Northwest Rankin community. Jackie worked for the Rankin County School District 14 years and Justin has spent his entire 21-year working career with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department. They have three children: Officer Jordan, 22; daughter Jorja, 11; and Jaxon, 4. When Jordan turned 21, he joined the Brandon Police Department,
thus following in the footsteps of his father as well as his grandfather, Wendell ”Tommy” Evans, who worked for and retired from the Jackson Police Department.
Jackie gave birth to the couple’s third child, Jax, in August 2014. Two months later, she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. She immediately began chemotherapy treatments and a year later received the hopeful news that there were no signs of cancer in her body. In March 2018, she learned that her breast cancer had metastasized to her liver and was Stage 4. She again began treatment, but the cancer has spread to her ribs and hips. Although no one on Earth knows what Jackie’s future holds, she continues to fight for her life. The benefit for Jackie is being organized by husband Justin’s patrol shift and fellow members of the RCSD’s Special Response Team.
